Mental health and art go hand and hand for me. Art is always constant. It helps me express my inner thoughts when words fail. Art saved me.

My favorite type of art to create is usually rooted in emotions and expressions. People are taught to hide their emotions, to keep the “big” feelings tucked away. I grew up absorbing that message, and every time someone called me dramatic, it reinforced the idea that my feelings were something to be embarrassed about. But when I draw, those same feelings become the fuel. They become the shape, the movement, the heartbeat of the piece, and now my favorite subject of art.
Where do you find inspiration?I suffer from PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder) I am 1 of 20 woman with a brain that has an extreme reaction to completley normal hormonal fluctuation. Pmdd some months can be incredibly debilitating, isolating and depressing. It is like an extreme version of pms and can happen even 2 full weeks before menstruation starts. This condition has inspired me to document my art throughout my cycle. Sometimes I can see the difference in my work and that fascinates me and inspires me to continue.
What would you do with $25,000?25,000 dollars could help my family in many ways. But I think I would use it to help renovate or expand my childhood home so my family can comfortably live together. If not that, I would look into building an eco-friendly tiny home or "she shed" for myself to be able to keep creating in my own space. (And not takeover the dining room table anymore). I would also like to make a donation to an organization regarding PMDD specifically.
