I paint because it is essential to me, it allows me to process my emotions and visually document my life experiences.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I am a contemporary artist with practices in both painting and graphic design. I have spent decades refining my art practice which merges the fundamentals of graphic design with the intuitive freedom of non-objective painting. My art is self-reflective — an introspective exploration of self-discovery and ultimately an intimate form of emotional expression. I work solely in acrylics and explore themes such as love, loss, transformation and self-discovery.
Where do you find inspiration?I am inspired by most things, I try to keep an open mind and look at things without any preconceived notions, seeing beauty in the simple things. Nature has a significant influence on my art, the way I interpret colour and movement are a result of my deep affinity to nature. This is rooted from my upbringing in northern Ontario and being one with nature since a very young age, it has been fundamental in my work and in my life.
What would you do with $25,000?These funds would provide me with the means presently needed to fully dedicate my time to my artistic practice.
