I create wood burned art (pyrography) because It’s permanent and unforgiving. Mistakes become part of the story, not something to hide.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Although all forms of art speak to me, pyrography has my heart. I have always dabbled in painting and drawing but I seem to have a natural affinity towards burning wood.
Where do you find inspiration?I have a deep respect and love for animals. I find inspiration in nature and the wild things around me. Sometimes my artistic visions don’t come from any visual inspiration at all. They come from emotions, memories, stories and I use my art to convey that feeling both through the mood of my subject and somewhat symbolically.
What would you do with $25,000?Right now my art helps me put food on the table. $25,000 would help me build something bigger! I would love to build a platform where I could use my wildlife focused art towards supporting conservation efforts, and also gain resources to teach youth pyrography so that older children can build skills, creativity and confidence through developing their artistic ability!
