I make art as an outlet for my own emotions, as well as a way to communicate with the world. My work serves as an extension of myself.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite type of art to create is visceral work that uses lots of texture, and is psychological or diaristic in nature. I tend to lean towards graphite illustration and animation as I’m able to focus on rendering the subject.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in my everyday life when I least expect it: from water damage in painted walls to the pattern in wood grain. I find that these sensations and patterns are a huge focus for me as I navigate how to express how it feels to be alive. I am also inspired by media. My favorite films are ‘Oldboy’, ‘Julien donkey-boy’, and ‘Fantastic Planet’, and my favorite books are ‘The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime’, ‘Earthlings’, and ‘The Unbearable Lightness of being’.
What would you do with $25,000?With $25,000, I would be able to dive into my next film and graphic novel project. I could hire both an assistant and a musician. I would use the remaining money to go towards renting an art studio space to work on and have meetings regarding the project, as well as to pay for festival application fees. The project is about neurodivergence in women. It will consist of an experimental animation, and an accompanying (non traditional) graphic novel that I have already begun working on.
