Where do you find inspiration? My garden, watching and observing the life cycle of plants. Being Curious, noticing, & paying attention. My role as caregiver, processing the honor and heartache of caring for my parents, coping with mom’s dementia, while simultaneously caring for a preemie grandson. Reading, poetry, trashy British detective stories, surreal fiction, memoirs, etc. Studying the secret history of plants and flowers, & their meanings and symbolism. Thinking about imbuing a metaphor by what plants I choose to depict
What would you do with $25,000?It would be nice to make more than one sculpture a year, as the cost of steel is a hindrance. I would like to get some things cast in bronze to incorporate into my work and expand my repertoire. With 25,000, some shelved ideas could become reality. I have long dreamed of building a small sculpture studio behind our welding shop so I could work whenever I want and not just on weekends when the space I use is being occupied by our Ironworks company. At 63, time is precious.
