My name is Sarah Bryant and I am an artist and designer studying at SCAD in Savannah, Ga. I create to make the world more beautiful!
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I am a mixed media artist so I work with mediums from painting, dyeing, garment design and construction, but my favorite is traditional illustration. Drawing is my passion and why I fell in love with art as a child. Illustration is limitless when it comes to my most creative ideas, it isn’t bound to gravity and physics, and however I picture a world in my mind, I am able to illustrate it to fruition.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration from literature, history, and anything that currently serves as my special interest for a time. For example, while staying at a friend’s house 3 years ago, I took interest in some art nouveau pieces hanging on their guest room wall. Since then, it sent me down a rabbit hole on learning what art nouveau was, where it came from, how it was applied during its time, and why it fell out of practice. Something that’s inspiring should carry your research for years and transform you.
What would you do with $25,000?Next year is my senior year at SCAD as a Fashion Design major. I would use the $25,000 to fund my senior collection, which is a project that spans an entire school year. After much ideation, brutal critiques, and many sleepless nights, we end up with 4 fully finished looks that are presented before a panel of judges to compete for a spot in the SCAD fashion show. The entire process costs a bare minimum of $5,000, on top of tuition, so $25,000 would be transformative for my senior year.
