Creating allows me to materialize my metaphysical map of protective devices and the poetics of intimacy; everything I make is a love letter.

Receive Text UpdatesI am primarily an oil painter, although my practice has grown to incorporate transfer printing, sculpture, video installation, sound design, and digital media. Across these mediums I give form to invisible structures and phenomena; light becomes an instrument, gestures of touch become spell-work, colour is calibrated to a feeling.
Where do you find inspiration?I see myself as living archive of every sensory input, feeling, synapse signal, and fascia memory. Anything that is stimulus enters my feedback loop and becomes a source to extricate meaning from. Experiences of apophenia and visual snow become creative substrates; phantom symbols, static vision interference, and synchronicities coalesce into a codified visual language. All of these inspirational components are grounded in a reverence for being alive and gratitude for the love that has found me.
What would you do with $25,000?With 25k I could rent a studio space (which I currently do not have) and spend more time painting, applying to exhibitions, and community organizing within my local art scene. I've just finished my BFA at UVic, which means I no longer have access to the photography/videography equipment, printing student discounts, and Adobe Creative Suite tools. I would love to invest in some of my own equipment so that I don't lose accessibility to integral components of my practice.
