As a Former Medical Massage Therapist of 20 yrs. I'm using Art as Therapy & Advocacy while battling Functional Neurological Disorder (FND).
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Anything & Everything. Art has No Limits. Making Messes. Art has been my therapy. It has helped me get through the challenges of my FND dx from paralysis, standing, walking, talking, migraines, memories, gage my pain threshold, mental, emotions, grief, prevented depression and help me be accountable. I can do it in bed on rough days with FND too. I love doing Portraits of Peoples Expressions. Adding 3D textures & shadow boxes. Its like being in space. Its my FREEDOM from the chaos.
Where do you find inspiration? My grandma, mom, brother, cousins, & art teacher— In 1999, I started having seizures as I was hypersensitivity to meds. Senior Year, I had 3 art classes. BUT focused on my career as CMT. In 2023, I had a fall/concussion & thought it was a mental health crisis. Psych cold turkey— I ended up fighting stroke, paralysis, seizures, learning to walk gain, & etc. Refound my love for art has been my therapy and new career since I am on a hiatus with my 20yr Career with Medical Massage to battle FND.
What would you do with $25,000?This question is almost like art...its endless what I would do. Pay for a custom mobility device to start working again? Restart my medical massage practice or start a art therapy clinic up as a 503 organization especially for FND? Give back to my world? Maybe take a vacation to Alaska, Explore Canada, or Italy & Europe and what its like to travel with a Disability?
