My favorite type of art to create is oil painting focused on portraits and figurative work developed from sketches made from live models. I work primarily with Gen Z individuals I personally know, observing them directly and translating those studies into expressive paintings. Working from life allows me to capture authenticity, presence, and the subtle emotional narratives of contemporary youth.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in everyday life around me in rural Western America — the young people in my community, open landscapes, changing seasons, and quiet social moments. Conversations, shared experiences, and observing how Gen Z navigates identity, belonging, and transition continually shape the emotional atmosphere and storytelling within my paintings.
What would you do with $25,000?If awarded $25,000, I would create a scholarship fund for students from rural agricultural communities like the one where I live, where access to Fine Arts education and awareness of art careers is limited. The fund would identify talented local students and support them in pursuing higher education and professional aspirations in the Fine Arts.
