My goal as an artist is to create impactful stories that deliver social commentary and ignite others' passion.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
As a storyteller, my favorite type of art to create is art that tells a story. In my recent projects, I have focused on advocating for individuals and animals who lack support from the broader public. In various zines, posters, and illustrations, I have aimed to highlight their story and existence, and to show how the general public can help improve their circumstances. By including details in my illustrations, I can tell an extensive story that advocates for change.
Where do you find inspiration? My primary source of inspiration comes from places I visit around Los Angeles. Despite not being a native Angelino, the city has become my home over the last 9 years, and the vibrant culture and varied nature have become a great inspiration from the architecture of Downtown LA, to the public issues that affect the city, to the forests of Griffith Park, and the marine ecosystems of the ocean. Los Angeles is filled to the brim with inspiration, both in location and the people who inspire me.
What would you do with $25,000?If I were to receive the $25,000 prize, all the funds would go toward continuing my art education by covering tuition and supplies. At the moment, I work an almost full-time position, mostly at night, to pay for my tuition at Otis College of Art and Design. I am fortunate to have enough aid to support this journey at the moment, but the future is uncertain, and I am prepared to work. The prize would ensure I can continue my studies and not doubt if I can continue working on my degree each year.
