Art and personal experience shape my creative practice. I draw from photographs and inspiring works as a foundation for collage-like murals. My influences include Peruvian artists like José Tola and the emotional energy of German Expressionism. I also developed a meditative painting series called “squigglies.” These lines begin at a single point, stretch outward, and reunite. Each line balances chaos and simplicity, helping me process emotions and unanswerable questions.
Where do you find inspiration?Color and curiosity drive my work as an artist. Growing up with Peruvian, German, and American influences shaped how I see the world. Experiencing diverse cultures taught me that different viewpoints are valuable tools for understanding complex issues. I depict people as cartoon-like figures, centering their emotions and actions above all else. The hope is to have these characters connect with the viewer.
What would you do with $25,000?I will set up an NGO in D.C. to connect and inspire women and children through art and research. I am starting my master's this year in International Development and Global Migration. I see security as a pressing issue worldwide. My working thesis focuses on how art and education influence climate change adaptation and security through urban beautification. I want to help create a world where beauty is a right for everyone. Everyone should feel safe and enjoy their space.
