What is your favorite type of art to create?

I love creating large-scale public art and murals that connect people to culture, memory, and community. My work combines realism with contemporary visual language, often inspired by education, migration, music, and human connection. I’m especially drawn to creating art in shared spaces because it allows everyday people to experience creativity as part of their lives, not only inside galleries.

Where do you find inspiration?

I find inspiration in people, especially children, families, and communities whose stories are often overlooked. I’m inspired by public spaces, music, migration, nature, and the emotional connections people have with memory and identity. Growing up in Mexico and now living in California has shaped the way I see culture, resilience, and community. I also find inspiration in teaching art and seeing creativity transform confidence and connection.

What would you do with $25,000?

I would invest the funding into expanding my public art practice and community projects. It would help me purchase equipment, materials, and studio resources to create larger murals and experimental works. I would also use part of the support to continue offering accessible art workshops for children and young people in underserved communities. This opportunity would allow me to focus more deeply on creating meaningful public art with lasting community impact.
