Creating art allows me to sit with and explore the images that pop into my head. It’s a spiritual practice for reflection and inquiry.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Printmaking is my favorite artistic practice. Visually, I work with a lot of symbolism and heavy contrast to create a narrative. Using different printmaking techniques gives my work a similar feel to the old illustrations and gig posters that inspired me when I was little. Philosophically speaking, I feel like everyone should have access to art. At its core, printmaking allows images to be created more cost-effectively than other artistic practices without diminishing the work's creative quality
Where do you find inspiration?Inspiration is everywhere. It’s in a conversation, a song, the way the afternoon light hits my house plants, or something I see on the side of the road when I’m stuck in traffic. Inspiration is hard to define because it comes in so many different ways. Once you’re tuned in and observe, inspiration can be anything.
What would you do with $25,000?If I had $25,000, I would use it to launch the business plan that I’ve been developing for the past year. That would create a creative community and provide a 3rd space for people to gather and form a community. The money would also allow me the opportunity to buy a few things I need for my creative practice.
