My work is about the invisibility and hypervisibility of us—the Black American.

I love to create the type of art that speaks to people’s genuine concern for learning about history. The history that gives context to some of the ideals that are still of concern in today’s world. All of my art is pulled from the history of this country. Although slavery, Jim Crow, and other devices of oppression no long exist. The reminisce of these systems are still very prevalent today. These systems don’t just effect Black people specifically, but they effect most, even if they don’t see it
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in the history AND everyday life of the average Black American. Whether it’s something that I have read, or something from the news or social media, there’s consistent inspiration on a daily basis for me. Simply put, I am inspired by life. As long as there is life, I will have a source of inspiration.
What would you do with $25,000?$25,000 dollars would be a major game changer for me. I would use it for studio rent and supplies. Which would ultimately lead to me being able to create more work, but without having the ever looming concern about making money. At least for a while. I would also be able to create a pop up exhibition that I’ve had in my head for some time. One that I feel would touch on multiple topics of oppression and governmental mismanagement.
