Creating art is how I understand what it means to live and to heal, not only myself, but the world around me and the beings in it.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I love to create art that makes the viewer feel more connected with themselves in a way that heals them from the inside out, allowing them to walk with a stronger sense of confidence, self love, healthier concept of beauty, and yearning to add more love and empathy into the spaces they enter. I work a lot with watercolor and acrylic, focusing on the human form to portray a feeling that allows one to feel awakened in their spirit, to feel enlightened and seen.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration all around me but my artwork took the biggest turn when I began pursuing my certification to become a yoga instructor. Yoga definitely healed my connection with my body and spirit, allowing me the space to feel whole. It was a very healing experience and it traveled through my art allowing me to speak louder than I ever have before. Through the years many have come to me sharing that my work has given them inner healing and it's meant the world to me.
What would you do with $25,000?I would not be the creative nor human I am today without the educators, creatives, and healers that have poured into me since youth. With $25,000, I'd donate some of the money to the arts department of the public school, Frances E. Carter in Brooklyn, NY. I attended this school as a child and the teachers in this school are truly light workers. I'd add some money to savings accounts for my children, use some to produce more art work to continue sharing my gift.
