Where do you find inspiration?I create art around my experiences and history I love being a witness to other people’s experiences and stories. I keep a mental catalog of colors and I pay attention to details when something catches my eye. I spend time in nature and listening to music. In addition to painting, I write poetry so my writing often influences my art. When I was a child there was a lot of tension in my home and art gave me control over my environment through storytelling and creating vibrant, beautiful art.
What would you do with $25,000?Art funding cuts over the last year impact full time artists like myself who have lost work opportunities. The award will give me a chance to catch up on my expenses and worry less about how to stay afloat. I would invest in my work through some new supplies. This award would gift me more time for art without the concern that my full attention may cause me to compromise my home and resources. It would help me travel and share art in new places.
