For me, creating art is my language for the words that I can't find to fully express what I'm attempting to communicate pain and beauty.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Deep emotional abstracts and conceptual floral paintings are my fancies when I am creating. I have CPTSD, MDD and Anxiety from severe sexual abuse at the age of 5 and also from being raised in a narcissistic household. My abstracts are contempative, while my florals are almost realistic with a 3D quality from my particular use of color! Sometimes I even use 22kt gold within them!
Where do you find inspiration? My inspiration comes from my trauma and from the constant need to study the beauty in nature as a way of reminding myself, with the hopes of reminding others as well, that for every evil thing in this world there is the opposite to look for! That reminder helps to keep me hopeful and sturdy in my faith in Jesus Christ. Through this, I pray my work carries His love and peace to help others heal from their pains and grievances, and to know they are not alone!
What would you do with $25,000?I would buy myself a proper studio space where I could create without interruptions. I'm 48 and I have never had my own space before. The third bedroom is 10' x 14' in our house and it just doesn't cover it.
