I create abstract expressions of atmospheres and emotion using acrylics and oil pastels. My work focuses on capturing feelings, memories, and the pulse of a moment -building layers of texture and color until the energy of the piece feels complete. My goal is to translate internal energy into a rich, visual language that invites the viewer to experience a specific mood. Even when my work hints a floral or landscape, it's about capturing the energy of the moment.
Where do you find inspiration?Inspiration for me is everywhere. I find it in the color stories of a magazine just as often as I find it in the changing light outside. I'm constantly absorbing the colors and shapes around me, but I don't try to recreate the image itself. Instead, I take those visual fragments and translate them into a feeling on the canvas. It's about capturing the energy of what I see and turning it into something expressive with my paint and pastels.
What would you do with $25,000?Winning this would allow me to fully invest in my studio practice- upgrading to larger canvasses and high-quality materials to push my abstracts further, I'd also use funds to expand my outreach within the Nashville art community. Most importantly, I want to pay it forward by donating a portion of my winnings to art-based charities, ensuring that the energy I put onto the canvas also helps support creative healing for others.
