I create to live and for the pursuit of passion. I create art to breathe and to heal. To face my fears and change the world.

My favorite type of art to create are paintings that convey deep emotion. I love color and enjoy watching the colors mix on the canvas especially when layering. The music I’m listening to makes it onto the canvas and the colors dance.
Where do you find inspiration?I find my inspiration from life experiences both positive and negative. The forces of nature, the alchemy of earth, air, water, fire. My paintings represent this well. Also inspired by living through a volcanic eruption in Hawaii; covered my home and community in 30 ft of rock. The unspoken words of that experience. The juxtaposition of Destruction and creation, witnessing in awe as a river of lava made its way to the ocean. The glow, energy, vibrant colors, emotion, flowing together.
What would you do with $25,000?I work as a licensed mental health counselor and I want to teach other clinicians how to use art as expression. I know, first hand, how hard it is to hold everyone’s trauma and not have time for self-care or hobbies. I would use the money to build a coaching business, helping others create art as a way to explore their own emotions to free up some space internally (heart, mind body connection) to help others and prevent burnout. Art supplies are expensive!
