I am an abstract artist whose work explores memory, emotion, and personal transformation through layered color, texture, and movement.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Currently, my favorite type of art to create is what wants to just come out of me. I used to be a more figurative artist, and a massive over-thinker. When I started working abstract, it all changed. I used to kind of roll my eyes at abstract, thinking it was just color smeared around. But when I started doing it, I realized I was kind of barfing out my insides without thinking about it. And it created such freedom and release. Abstract art isn’t random it is the embodiment of memory.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in almost anything. I know I discovered when I was taking really long walks for a while, they weren’t only healing me, but they were inspiring me. I wasn’t intentionally capturing all of the colors and shapes that I saw on my walks, but they just stayed inside me after I got home and stepped up to a canvas. They became my feelings in color.
What would you do with $25,000?I would try to work down the debts that I’ve accrued while trying to start my art business. I decided that I only want to be an artist, so I made investments for my future that are kind of unfortunately on top of me now. I don’t regret making those choices, all I could do was try my best to make my art my future and livelihood finally.
