Art is just as vital to me as breathing. Maybe sounds a bit cliche but I truly can’t see myself living unless I’m creating something.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite type of art to create is performance art. I love being able to make a live, 1-of-1 art piece with engagement from my very own community. I act as a bridge to merge the traditional fine art world with mainstream culture. It's fun.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in dissecting societal constructs. Society norms that we've come to adopt as "truth" instead of ever-evolving ideas of our current time. Some of these norms include the themes of masculinity and femininity, racial labels, classicism, the perceived view of the human body, and capitalism.
What would you do with $25,000?Firstly, I would thank God if I ever was gifted that much money. Then right after, I would start preparing for my 3rd solo art exhibition that I would now be able to fund without going in debt. I have a lot of paintings that I would love to showcase to my community. And I have a strong vision for how I want to hold space for my community to meet other creatives and become inspired.
