Ever since I was young I’ve always found art to be my creative outlet and my way to cope with daily life. It’s my love language.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I love drawing, sketching, painting, creating on my Samsung tablet and recently I’ve been into sculpting. I particularly enjoy drawing my Captain Bowtie cartoons, she’s been a huge part of my life for the last twenty years. She is a huge part of the childlike wonder and excitement I still express at thirty-three years old. That’s a huge piece of my heart. I’ve been drawing since I was three years old and haven’t stopped even with my eye issues.
Where do you find inspiration?A lot of my inspiration comes from the people I have looked up to since I was very small and deep within myself. When I was seven years old I was diagnosed with type one diabetes and to cope I learned to pick up a pencil or paintbrush and express myself through my art to battle things that no one should go through. My mother was an amazing artist and that’s where I got it from. I also have loved artists such as Frida Kahlo, Vincent Van Gogh and Tim Burton. People who were known for their weird.
What would you do with $25,000?I would want to donate some of the money to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation to find a cure and also use some of the money to get my first coloring book published and help teach kids it’s okay to be weird and different. No one was meant to stay inside a box we are all born to stand out. I would like to realize my dreams and help make a difference in another kids life who may also be struggling with Juvenile diabetes.
