Art is my outlet to express myself, process my emotions and connect with others, especially others who have been survivors of trauma.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite art to create is the kind that makes people uncomfortable, the kind that causes them to think and feel emotions they typically would ignore or shy away from. Macabre is a simple word to describe the art I create. I don't put myself in a box because experimenting is part of the process and journey.
Where do you find inspiration? My inspiration comes from my experiences in life and nature. Sometimes I don't find it, it finds me and hits me like a slap in the face or a bucket of ice water being poured over my head.
What would you do with $25,000?First, I would save an amount of it for my son's future. The rest of it would be invested into creating more art and an art studio. I am a single mom, who has been raising my kid and creating art in a corner in my room during the night and in-between all the responsibility that comes with being a mom.
