I create art to inspire the viewer to spark conversations and to possibly bring light and joy. I want them to walk away changed by my art.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Fiber art. Using different textiles, textures and techniques allows me to create a piece that for me is alive. I like to say my pieces are verbs not just nouns. Each piece incorporates more than just one type of medium so that all viewers and artists can possibly get inspired to create in their medium.
Where do you find inspiration?Everywhere. This current piece, Ladies of Liberty, was inspired by the Statue of Liberty. I wanted to create a piece that demonstrated America for me. By using arguably, the most famous lady in American history and representing her across cultures, this is America for me. As we look to celebrate 250 years of America, I hope my ladies inspire some conversations, bring joy or allow individuals to see themselves in The American Dream.
What would you do with $25,000?Support my 2 non profits I work with. Arts for Vets and Love in Action. Both located in Grand Forks, ND. Oh, and buy more FABRIC!!!
