I’m drawn to abstract expression because it allows me to explore the tactile language of texture. I thrive in the tension created by the juxtaposition of elements and finding harmony where different forms and surface collide. Also, I am captivated by the ‘push and pull’ energy that brings a composition to life.
Where do you find inspiration?I find my most profound inspiration in the brilliance of urban decay- the rich, oxidized copper of patina, the grit of rust, the rugged textures of architecture, but also in the geometry of shadows, the negative spaces between tree branches, and of cloud formations. Furthermore, I’m just as equally fueled by the bold visuals of Yellow Submarine and by Pink Floyd’s The Wall and vibrant indigenous textile patterns . My inspirations are kaleidoscopic , born from a natural curiosity about the world.
What would you do with $25,000?Winning this prize would be the definite catalyst for my profesional evolution. I would invest these funds into specialized design education, industry-standard software, and hardware necessary to bridge the gap between my creative vision and and a professional career in surface pattern design.
