Art used to frustrate me because I thought it had to be perfect; however, I’ve learned that the beauty of art is that it doesn’t have to be.

I honestly realized that I normally lean towards realism, abstract, and non objective pieces; however, I love to dabble in anything I can get my hands on. Though there are many things I enjoy illustrating, I’d say I love to portray people the most. I always feel more connected with such a piece mainly because of their eyes. Even when I first meet a person, that’s the first thing I notice about them. The slightest brush stroke to the eyes can change the meaning/mood of an artwork.
Where do you find inspiration?Anything that surrounds my life. In my artwork, I create many things based on my interests. However, despite having quite an easy basis when working on media pieces, I still look for others things to incorporate such as the subject of art I think best suites the piece. Some of my favorite types of art I have created contain natural resources. Using the branches, leaves, and rocks around my home makes for good crafting material.
What would you do with $25,000?Definitely a mind-boggling question for me but I have an answer. I’m from Southwest Virginia which is a pretty impoverished area, so I’d definitely use some of the $25,000 to further my art education to help myself become an art professor; however, I’d do anything in my power to help the people who have supported me and my passion no matter what, my family. My family deserves more than words can describe, and I know they’d want me to put myself first; but I feel it’s my turn to support them.
