My favorite type of art I love to create is oil makings. I love to prep my canvas, my palette, and my work environment. To create an oil painting is an honor, and a reflection of the masters before us who painted with such oils. I find myself often dabbling in realms of realism and old western are, and then pushing the surrealism boundaries for something more fantastical. The fact that a simple paint brush shows no bounds or restrictions to the mind is what draws me in to oil painting.
Where do you find inspiration?I aspire to reach a level of details like the masters alive today such as Mark Maggiori, Andrew Cadima, Ricardo Federici, and Will Rochfort. However, my first ever study of a master was with J.C Leyendecker. His use of color blocking, and dynamic lighting and shape use is what inspired me to break down my walls- and truly break the 'rules' I initially learned for fundamentals.
What would you do with $25,000?If I received the $25,000 I would kickstart my studio and begin to lay down serious roots in my hometown of Las Vegas. I am currently a student within the College of Southern Nevada, and plan to expand my studies further for a Bachelor of fine arts. This money would not only support me as a first generation college student, but would help me thrive to make the art I desperately want to make with having the concrete funds to afford a private studio.
