Art has always been therapeutic for me—a platform for healing, impacting hearts, and advancing social justice through advocacy.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I am primarily a painter, creating portraits, large-scale murals, and public artworks that center human stories. My practice is multidisciplinary, extending into sculpture, sound, video, performance, and new media—using whatever mediums are necessary to fully express the narratives I’m called to tell.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in the witness and testimony of people who are becoming and overcoming. My work places me alongside the wrongfully accused, the politically imprisoned, and those impacted by police brutality and carceral systems. I’m moved by their resilience, truth, and faith—how, through art, their stories can shift perception and reclaim identity.
What would you do with $25,000?With the $25,000, I will restore two of my New York City murals that have been worn down by time and construction. I will also hire youth from the nonprofit where I facilitate art therapy for young men in reentry, bringing them on as artist assistants.
