I make art to feel through thinking. My hands know things before I do. It's where chaos becomes order, and order becomes beautiful.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I have a daily practice: I draw in pen with my eyes closed, then open them and add color with markers before posting to Instagram. It’s a daily meditation on how seeing changes what’s seen. I also make oil paintings that draw on the tradition of observational painting while embedding patterning, binary code, art historical citations, symbols and text fragments. The result is work that invites the viewer to participate in the interpretation.
Where do you find inspiration?Inspiration is collision of ideas. My curiosity is polymathic: art history, pop culture, poetry, science, politics, spirituality, and a deep reverence for the natural world. Making art is regeneration and reorganization — connecting beauty and thought, bringing order to what feels scattered. Each painting becomes an object of contemplation: complex enough to reward sustained looking, open enough to shift with each viewer.
What would you do with $25,000?Steven Pressfield wrote, “Money buys another season to create.” That’s what this prize would support — uninterrupted studio time that lets work deepen rather than perform. Freedom to paint, to experiment, to follow questions that don’t yet have answers. My practice is built on slow looking and careful making. This funding would let the new work emerge with the rigour it deserves.
