Abstract expression is the art form I am most drawn to because it allows emotion to exist without rules. My work explores expressive eyes, lips, the female form, and abstract pieces that reflect the emotions I feel in the moment. Calm creates softer movement and balance, while anxiety, anger, or sadness bring stronger expression and intensity. For me, art is emotion made visible and a way to understand both myself and the world around me.
Where do you find inspiration?My inspiration comes from within. I create when I am trying to understand my emotions and the world around me. Art allows me to express what often remains hidden behind the masks people wear. I have spent much of my life living for others and, through creating, I reconnect with myself. Nature inspires my calmer work, but most of my inspiration comes from the need to process emotion and transform it into something visible.
What would you do with $25,000?If selected, I would save a large portion of the award for my daughter’s future college education. The rest would be invested back into my art through quality supplies and materials to build frames for my work. This support would allow me to continue creating and growing as an artist while building a future for my daughter and turning creativity into something lasting and meaningful.
