I create art to transform what’s been discarded into something meaningful—where light, memory, and material find a second life.

I create art from what already exists—discarded, fragmented, or overlooked materials. The goal is to keep them out of landfills while transforming them into something intentional: pieces that are unique, visually engaging, and accessible as functional or decorative objects.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in the Great Lakes—their shifting colors, light, and textures—but also in the shared experience of being there. Beaches offer a quiet mindfulness that feels universal: reflection and mindfulness, something many people connect to. That collective sense of place influences how I gather materials and transform them into work that feels both personal and familiar.
What would you do with $25,000?I would allocate a portion to support the Alliance for the Great Lakes and their work protecting freshwater ecosystems. I’d also invest in hosting small, pop-up art festivals on Chicago’s South Side—creating accessible spaces for artists and community engagement. The remainder would support materials for my own work, continuing to transform reclaimed elements into new pieces.
