Creating art is a beautiful coping mechanism for me. I grieve 11 losses. I create with the mania, depression, anxiety, and pain I feel.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite type(s) of art to create are emotional expressionism and symbolic mixed media. I consider most of my work chaotic, complex, emotional, symbolic, and uncomfortable. I let out all of my tension and vulnerability onto a canvas.
Where do you find inspiration?Although finding inspiration can be difficult at times, I am most inspired by loneliness. I have felt alone my entire life growing up, from being kidnapped at 5 yrs old til I was 11, having to raise myself the entire way due to toxic household, to today ; where I suffer from severe PTSD. I have no one to call due to everyone passing away. All I have is my son left. It is easier now to isolate. Being alone helps with better observation, patience, and reflection. I can paint what I can’t say aloud
What would you do with $25,000?If I was blessed with $25,000, I would immediately cry and be grateful for the opportunity. I have debts from letting people abuse me financially in the past that I am yet to recover. I would definitely put the money toward those first. Secondly, I am a single mother to a 5 year old son with Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD levels 2 and 3. It is very difficult for me to get the help he needs at the pace needed because I lack resources. Money can help with that. Lastly, I would save the rest.
