Making art is my way of marking my time on this gorgeous rock. It feels good to make something tangible that others may find meaning in too.

I like to make colorful art that has depth. When using watercolor I layer the transparent colors to achieve a stained glass effect. With my mixed media pieces I utillize a technique called “bas Relief” where parts of the painting are raised slightly. This adds a “half” of a dimension to an otherwise flat surface. I make the raised parts using polymer clay, paper mache, collage, and found items. I use these raised parts to add emphasis, highlight areas, and to add important symbolism.
Where do you find inspiration?I am inspired by where I live at the borderland of El Paso, Texas. I can see Mexico from my from my front porch. I have fallen in live with the Mexican culture; the spicy food, the warmth of the people, the colorful vibrant art scene. All of it makes its way into my art. From Frida Kahlo motifs to Dia de los Muertes symbolism I love it all. The Chihuahuan desert here is vast, and the ever changing skies give me life. The desert blooms show up in my work to show there is beauty in resiilience.
