Suzanne Batchelor

I fell in love with “Delft Blue” in Holland and the light that would filter into the cafes down narrow streets during the golden hour.

What is your favorite type of art to create?

I love painting all subjects but my favorite is Still Life. I love taking everyday objects and manipulating them in a unique composition and perspective to make a statement with an arrangement- to tell a story.

Where do you find inspiration?

In the shadows of life, because it is from there that light emerges.

What would you do with $25,000?

I will donate it to Nassau County, Florida Schools art education programs. There’s so much talent that lies undiscovered in schools. I was incredibly motivated to be an artist when I was in high school, but was never given the opportunity to explore it or have the supplies to fulfill what was in my heart. So I had to bury that desire to paint and it wasn’t until later that I found the time in the resources to pursue my dreams. So I’m so excited to be able to have the opportunity to give back!
