Art is reflection of the experience of life.To be a part of this shared bond is something I am proud of, and hope to reach many hearts with.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Photography, specifically analog, is my bread and butter. That is where I find the beauty. There's this feeling you get when you find a picture in the "wild". A frame that speaks to you that no one else understands. Freezing a real moment in time. To be able to sustain it, and recreate it's memory is like nothing else. Almost making it tangible again. To look at it, and feel as though you're a part of it. Encapsulating that beauty and sharing it with others.
Where do you find inspiration?A large part of my life is travel, and that is where I take most of my pictures. I find inspiration in the people and environments that surround me during that time. Whether it's a stranger on the street, a blend of rippled water and dappled light, or a friend deep in their own moment. There's something about being in a new or drastically different place. It's like being a child again. Everything is new, exciting, intriguing.
What would you do with $25,000?I would curate a photography expedition (maybe make a mini doc too) specifically revolving around surf culture, and how it differentiates around the world. Gather a couple of friends, and take off to Indonesia, Mexico, Africa, Nicaragua; any place with surfing deep in it's roots. Get off the beaten path, really try and get to know the place. Document not only the country/town/surf break's past and present, but my own experience and integration with the place.
