I use art as a way to connect with nature. Art is the thing that makes me the happiest in life and I want to share that with the world.

I absolutely love carving stone. My first exposure to carving was during my second semester of college in which I got to create a design and carve it out of plaster. In my third semester, I got the opportunity to carve alabaster with a hammer and chisel and as well as how to make a base from dolomite. It turned out better than I ever hoped. That experience inspired me to carve again this summer with limestone and marble. I cannot wait!
Where do you find inspiration? My sculpture professor, Jason Millward, inspires me immensely. His style of work and the methods and materials he uses to make his art is something I want to learn for myself. I am also inspired by people and how we interact with the world. Memories and physical objects are so precious to me, so much so that most of my work is somehow based on the relationship of man vs man and man vs nature. I believe there is good in all of us and I want to showcase that to the world with my art.
What would you do with $25,000?Following in Mr. Millward’s footsteps, I would go study in Europe and learn the techniques of classical sculpture from a renowned stone carver. It has been a dream of mine to go study in Europe for years, but money has always been the main thing preventing me from achieving this. With this money, not only could I afford the class, but this would help cover food, flights, a place to stay, and much more. It would be an honor to participate in something so amazing.
