Narrative work or a series of sequential pieces of narrative art are my favorite work to both view and create. Mixed media pieces have been a staple in my recent work. I tend to move through different mediums to keep my interest experimenting with 2D works on paper as well as 3D works on fabric and other untraditional materials.
Where do you find inspiration?Topics with layered meanings. All of us have a story, which is what I find most inspiring about life. I love stories of many types, especially those that give opportunity for discovery. Stories that lift lives are most inspiring to me. Stories are connected to memory, which is central to all of our lives. Memory is a powerful foundation for inspiration and can propell people to moments of commonality.
What would you do with $25,000?Invest in advancing my current goals as a publisher, creator, and mixed media artist. I have an affinity for printed materials because they allow a pause, which I think is not afforded to us by the exposure and ease of digital formats. I find that the printed page gives us more time for the discovery of ideas and memories. Print allows us to stop and gaze deeper into the narrative while engaging our creative faculties on multiple levels.
