I create art to remind people … and myself of the beauty of nature, and the absolute gift that this planet is. I hope it inspires us to love
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I love creating pieces that are realistic to places I’ve experienced, and bring out an essence of some physical thing I’ve actually seen; and then I like to draw in abstract interpretations of how it has made me feel. I use the abstract part to really expand the piece and allow it to reach more people. It’s like a little story, the shapes and the lines and the faces.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in my experiences of life, and the feelings that pass through me. I find inspiration in beautiful sights, or sounds, of places that make me feel a certain way.
What would you do with $25,000?I really want to visit my sister in Kauai. I have three children so the tickets alone for such a trip are so expensive. My sister and I grew up on those beaches, camping in tents, and living a life sureendered ti the universe. I’d also invest more in setting up a solid home for my babies and I; it’s been a bit back and forth lately. I would also invest in the children’s books I’ve been writing thanks to them!
