What I love about art is that is it a form of escapism for me as well as a way to connect with others in ways words fail me.

These days my favorite type of art to create floats between abstract expressionism, surrealism and Impressionism, all funneled through my take on automatism, or automatic mark making. I find it the most freeing and liberating when I take a step back and allow the canvas, paint or drawing mediums and brush to dictate where we’re going. I then enjoy stepping back in and making conscious decisions to impact the final result.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration primarily from music, nature and the state of the world. I have always had a profound love for nature- plants, creatures, seasons, change, elements. Simultaneously music has always been one of my deepest passions, I just was never able to play the way I could draw. Majority of the time I paint or draw I use music as a tool to channel the muse and guide me. The vast suffering in the world also plays a vital role in my practice, either directly responding or escaping from it.
What would you do with $25,000?On top of being a painter and drawer, I also organize, curate, install and host art shows featuring independent artists from all walks of life. Not only would this money allow me to purchase more and better art supplies without going hungry, it would also go a long way in making these events more feasible, creating a space for many more independent artists to flourish. I have been doing all this solo, this would make my dreams of being an independent artist and curator much more attainable.
