Creating picassiette mosaic art is therapeutic to me. The end result typically creates joy for others. How can you beat that?
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I have an appreciation for all kinds of art and have tried many types/mediums. Picassiette mosaics have been the most rewarding. It began with the thought of repurposing a broken vintage Fiesta plate from my vintage collection and quickly grew into a love of artful creation. Creating an image out of solid colored ceramic dishes is a challenge when you cannot truly blend colors as you can with paint. I love a challenge.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration through my love of nature, the appreciation of sentimental values, and repurposing pieces of history and damaged items that would otherwise end up in a landfill. I find many people appreciate ceramics and china passed down through generations. When something damages one of those relics, it can be heartbreaking. If I can repurpose it into a piece of art where that person can now envision it in a sentimental way again instead of a heartbreak, that inspires me to do more.
What would you do with $25,000?First, I would buy a bottle of champagne (or a Diet Pepsi) and celebrate because there are some amazing artists out there! Next, I would take about $200.00 and get a haircut and mani/pedi. I tend to baby my dogs more than myself. I will splurge on myself just this one time. :) Finally, I would become more involved in my local community to help others explore their creativity and find their niche. It took me over 50 years to find mine. I’d like to help others find their happy sooner.
