I try to capture life—to prove to the universe that humans didn’t just squander the gift of existence.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I love people‑watching through ink and watercolor, trying to catch nuanced moments—couples in embrace, kids playing, friends bantering. Faces and caricatures are fun too. I also love sketching animals at zoos and aquariums; their countless shapes, colors, and quirky behaviors are a testament to existence against all odds, and it deserves to be recorded.
Where do you find inspiration?Inspiration is all around me. It’s about tapping into it. All you need is a sketchbook, a pen, and patience. It’s choosing the right moment. Life doesn’t stay still, so you push through. Not every stroke is perfect, but enough “mistakes” together form an intent—a fleeting moment made real. Life feels the same—fleeting, precious—and getting proof it happened at all—that’s special.
What would you do with $25,000?Make more art, of course! I’ve been working on an animated short about motorcycles and blues (I ride), a project that’s been on the back burner for years—mixing CG and watercolor for the final look. There’s time, software, and hardware involved, and $25k would really help. So here’s to shooting my shot :)
