My art is an intimate connection with nature for me and for the observer, where dried, natural elements are combined in fresh, exciting ways.

Three-dimensional mixed media art is my niche. I discovered dried catalpa pods after the pandemic and was immediately inspired to "make" something using them which led to my use of dried lotus pods, dried peony pods, dried mesquite pods, pine cones, dried fern fronds, shells, fabric, fiber, feathers, broken pottery, jewelry and glass. I can create a piece that is loud and expressive or delicate and intimate using these natural materials.
Where do you find inspiration? My primary inspiration is nature and using my art to bring the outdoors, indoors. People are fascinated at how arranging these natural elements together in different ways can evoke a connection with nature, set a mood, jog a memory, invite close inspection. It's exciting to take elements that have technically "died" and give them new life and expression!
What would you do with $25,000?I would use the money to fund a creative arts summer program for neuro-divergent kids where their creativity is inspired and celebrated .
