I create art as a way to express myself more fluidly when sometimes words aren’t enough to describe how I feel or what I see.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite type of art to create are drawings and paintings. With drawing I like to delve into traditional mediums like colored pencils and graphite but also digital sometimes for fun. For painting I love to use acrylic paint often for a matte look but rendering is very fun too! Navigating color theory while trying different techniques for each project I create is a learning experience but it’s very enjoyable to work through.
Where do you find inspiration?Inspiration for me mostly comes from the feeling of nostalgia and visual aesthetics that make up what’s appealing around me. Nostalgia is a common theme within my art often incorporating objects like toys to callback the times in from my childhood. Visual aesthetics are very prevalent in my work, I like to incorporate shapes like stars, diamonds, and circles and even organic shapes because they invoke a calm, almost freeing, soft touch with some elegance to elevate the work.
What would you do with $25,000?I would use some of the money to help my parents pay for my college tuition at Chatham University but also I want to give back to them, especially with helping pay for their medical expenses since my parents are getting older. They’re really great to me along with other people in their lives so I want to do the same for them.
