Making art is fun and rewarding, bringing me happiness by allowing me to play and experiment with ceramics.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
When I slab build to make a giant padlocks or other sculptures. Especially when I do a raku firing it's really cool! Pulling glowing red-hot pieces out of the kiln & placing them into containers filled with combustible materials creating intense smoke. Seeing how your ceramic piece turns out it's like opening a Christmas presents in the morning because you truly never know what will appear, offering a mix of anticipation, wonder, & sometimes, unexpected surprises.
Where do you find inspiration?Listening to music while creating. Also, wanting to learn new ways to improve my skills inspires me and a mix of internal reflection and observing the world around around me.
What would you do with $25,000?I would use the money to buy a ceramic kiln, potters wheel and other pottery equipment for a at home studio so I could continue making art. Ceramics have been creative therapy for me it offers a way to navigate emotions & reduce anxiety by shifting focus to artistic expression. Creating functional art like bowls, mugs or expressive pieces is a powerful way to turn stress into something tangible & beautiful.
