I am a glass artist with a fondness for fantasy, flora and fauna, as well as myths and the macabre. My main passion is lampworking, or sculpting hot glass in a torch. Controlling flame and molten glass is an incredibly magical experience, and I get to do that most every day. I love working with colors and bringing my whimsical little critters and plants to life.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in the small, still moments of nature. A delicate bloom, the morning dew on a spider web. I am endlessly fascinated by nature and watching things grow. I often take walks out in the woods, or in local scenic cemeteries, and would happily stop and observe a moss laden log for an unreasonable amount of time.
What would you do with $25,000?If I won $25,000 I would be able to finally get myself and my mother out of our financial struggle. She had to stop working last year due to a chronic breathing illness, and I have been struggling to make ends meet without her help. I have crohns disease and a panic disorder, so a regular stable day job is not always something I can do. My art is my life, so I'd do most anything to make it more of a success.
