I create sculpture because of gives form to what words cannot hold

My favorite art to create is sculptural work in wood- fluid forms shaped through carving, repair, and refinement. I’m drawn to pieces that hold tension between vulnerability and resilience, often using spheres and layered structures to suggest growth, memory, and transformation. The process informs the work, allowing lived experience- especially loss and renewal- to be translated into a physical presence
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in natural forms and systems alongside lived experience and memory. My work is also shaped by emotional states such as joy, grief, resilience, and transformation, and by the challenge of giving form to experiences that resist language. I am drawn to quiet everyday structures and the way materials hold time, pressure, and repair.
What would you do with $25,000?With $25,000, I would reinvest into my sculptural practice to expand both capacity and output. I would upgrade essential carving and stabilization tools to improve safety, precision, and scale. A portion would go towards sustainably sourced materials along with finishing equipment to support surface development and repair techniques central to my process. I would also allocate funds for documentation, ensuring the work is properly archived.
