I am compelled. There is a creative force within me that I can't turn off. www.timbartonart.com
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
3D assemblage pieces where I construct the box/cabinet from wood, typically poplar, then paint and simulate age to the piece so it looks old. I then fill it with found and created objects that I feel relate to eachother and to a central theme or idea. In between these heavy psychological pieces I do small (14" x 14") acrylic paintings from around the area where I live in southern Delaware. This clears my head and studio and readies it for the next 3D assemblage.
Where do you find inspiration?Everywhere. Sometimes a piece is fully formed in my brain when I first wake up coming to me in my unconscious. Other times I get inspiration during my walks in the early morning when my mind is quiet. Other times I find "that object", the kind I know I can use, and inspiration and ideas are generated from it.
What would you do with $25,000?I would use it to add some equipment to my studio. But I think the bulk of it would be donated to some great local art organizations to help insure their continued ability to create art programs for my local community.
