I often rely on the masculine Vulnerability of the male figure in my paintings reclaiming the figure to shine a light on the darker aspects of our psyche and society. This allows me to play with a bit of surrealism along with realistic figurative painting and some trompe L'oeil to help tell a story . Like Caravaggio who often brought the viewer further into the painting , I like to use Eye contact and the illusion of three dimension to intrigue the view to want to " tip toe" closer to see more

I find inspiration through meditation . My studio is in the walk out basement of my home, I'm on the ground closer to the earth surrounded by it on three sides . I think that grounding helps not as a metaphor but in reality the garden is out side my doors and I am present, Especially during meditation . I clear my mind, as best I can, and I call to the loving spirits of the Universe, the most creative of you to break through this human shell and show me what to paint to help others .

I work full time as an artist . I free lance for another artist, reproducing his work for him. Its a necessity and often takes much of my time leaving little for my fine art painting . I would be able to ease up on that a bit and paint for myself . I would invest in a new easel and oil paints and investigate that new medium
