Two dimensional oil painting. I know it's traditional and representational, but within these limits , one can still conjure the nuances of the soul.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in old family photos and in the well worn streets of Detroit, where my family came to start families. I am fascinated by the physical layering of time, and the bridging of it in oil painting that connects it to the present. I see my paintings as tributes to our shared consciousness.
What would you do with $25,000?I would invest in making more work and in investigating it further through traveling to see museum collections and spending even more time painting in the studio .
