After painting figures and portraits on canvas for most of my life. During Covid I shifted to make large sculptures from recycled cardboard and leaving them in Tompkins Square Park once a month for a year. Since then, my work morphed into more 3 dimensional relief paintings and sculptures of historical buildings in the Lower East Side, about 40 pieces now. I usually give the finished work back to the building to ie: NY Public Library, LES Girls Club, Loisaida Community Center, John’s of 12th St.
Where do you find inspiration?In my neighborhood, local businesses, community centers and with my 12 year old son.
What would you do with $25,000?$25k would provide me the opportunity to work with more organizations in my community to create public art projects. I might also my myself a better hot glue gun.
